Why it’s HorroRated
The Soul earns its rating by doing something most free indie horror games don't bother with: it builds dread through restraint. The farmhouse is used with real spatial intelligence and the killer's unpredictability keeps you off balance in ways jump scares alone couldn't manage. Diego Victor's PSX aesthetic isn't just cosmetic — the limited visibility and the grain work directly in the horror's favor. The three-ending structure gives it replay value that feels earned rather than gimmicky. A standout short-form slasher from a developer worth tracking.
Synopsis
The Soul is a suspenseful slasher with a PSX aesthetic set in a remote rural landscape. Two friends find themselves stuck at a farmhouse with no immediate way out and a presence working through the darkness around them. Diego Victor uses shadow and stillness rather than noise to build the tension, and the three-ending structure means the choices you make inside the house carry real weight. Free on itch.io for Windows, running about thirty minutes.
